Change is often difficult, but necessary. Like many of you, AECN staff would prefer to provide face to face sessions whenever possible. This past year has left no other option but online professional development. Fortunately, AECN had already prepared participants for the transition. Soon, KT will be receiving training on how to offer a variety of professional development opportunities online in addition to our current method in Course Sites which will transfer over to Blackboard Learn. Stay tuned!
In the coming months, we will be moving from our current delivery system, Course Sites by Blackboard, into Blackboard Learn. Course Sites will no longer be in service after the end of August, so be prepared for the great things that are on the horizon!
The Transition
As we prepare for the transition to Blackboard Learn, KT will notify all current participants using Course Sites of the transition date and how to transfer to the new system. She hopes to give at least a week’s notice to participants so they will have ample time to prepare for the transition.
Training Options Needs Assessment
Since AECN will be able to expand its training method options and topics, we would like to hear from YOU! What are the specific topics or subject areas that you would like us to address in the coming months? Please contact KT at kt@appchildnetwork.org to put in your requests. Be specific about what you would like us to address in the training, and not just the topic you are interested in. For instance, instead of saying “challenging behaviors”, share what you want to know…proper methods for dealing with challenging behaviors, how to prevent challenging behaviors from occurring or classroom management strategies for addressing children with challenging behaviors. Please send in your requests by the end of May!
Will AECN Offer In Person Training When Regulations Permit?
AECN will begin to provide in person/face to face training once the state guidelines permit and schedules allow. However, there will be AECN guidelines on the minimum group size for in person CCCC and CDA series sessions. That means we must have enough participants to pay for the training costs. We will provide Super Saturday type trainings for large groups such as Community Early Childhood Councils or local early childhood programs groups who request them…again with a minimum group size. If you are a Head Start or other agency in need of Pre-Service training, we will do our best to accommodate you too!
